Custom Finnish lighting for Rita and Aki Manninen’s home
Rita Niemi-Manninen and Aki Manninen are Finnish wellness entrepreneurs, coaches and media personalities. Their home provided an inspiring setting for a custom lighting collaboration with QUU Design, bringing together bold architecture, personal colour choices and handcrafted Finnish lighting design.
With its impressive seven-metre-high ceiling, the open living room required lighting with enough scale and presence to become a natural part of the architecture. QUU Design created a personalised lighting concept designed around the proportions, atmosphere and individual character of the home.
Statement chandeliers for a high-ceiling living room
Two customised QUU chandeliers became the eye-catching focal points of Rita and Aki’s living room. The compositions were created in individual colour combinations and fitted with extra-long textile cables, allowing each pendant to be positioned at a carefully considered height.
The sculptural arrangement of wood and glass spheres draws the eye upwards and highlights the exceptional height of the room. At the same time, the lights add warmth, rhythm and personality to the open interior.
In a high-ceiling space, lighting does more than illuminate the room. A thoughtfully designed chandelier helps define the proportions of the interior and visually connects the different levels of the home.
A cohesive lighting concept throughout the home
The lighting concept continues on the upper floor, where three smaller QUU light compositions were installed along the upstairs corridor. Their shapes and materials create a visual connection with the statement chandeliers in the living room.
For the bedroom, a softer QUU chandelier was designed in a calming combination of brown and white. Two walnut-toned QUU table lamps were placed beside the bed, bringing warm ambient lighting and a peaceful atmosphere to the space.
Together, the chandeliers, pendant lights and table lamps form a balanced lighting concept that feels personal, cohesive and made for the home.
