The story
My name is Heli Mäkiranta, and I am the designer and founder of the brand QUU Design. I am interior architect and founded my own designer studio in 2014. During my studies I found myself interested in lighting and started to dream of my own light collection.
Through a customer project the opportunity presented itself. The design raised interest and gave me the courage to launch my own brand and collection named QUU Design.
QUU Design is inspired by the bright moon and stars of winter skies in Finland. QUU Design represents the Northern star shining upon to the lakes and forests of Scandinavia. The Nordic landscape is my muse and the soul of the lights. Sustainable and local production are my key values. The materials come from trusted professionals around Finland and the products are put together through small businesses here in Central Finland. Supporting Finnish craftsmanship brings me joy and partnerships have formed into valued friendships. The quality in materials and manufacturing makes the products long lasting.
