A CUSTOM CHANDELIER FOR THE OULU HOUSING FAIR

The 2025 Oulu Housing Fair brought together inspiring ideas for contemporary Finnish homes. QUU Design was part of the event through Villa Pesäpuu, where a custom chandelier was created for the home’s impressive high-ceiling living room.

Designed together with the family, the chandelier was made specifically for the proportions and atmosphere of the space. With 14 individual pendant lights, it became a strong visual element within the interior while still feeling light and balanced.

A CHANDELIER DESIGNED FOR A HIGH LIVING ROOM

Finding the right lighting for a large, high-ceiling space can be challenging. The chandelier needed enough scale to feel connected to the architecture while remaining beautiful from several different viewpoints.

The final composition features 14 QUU pendant lights suspended at carefully considered heights. A larger ceiling canopy was custom-made by a local carpenter to bring the entire installation together.

The result draws the eye upwards and creates rhythm within the tall living room. Viewed from below or from the upper floor, the chandelier becomes part of the architecture rather than simply a light hanging within it.

FINNISH CRAFTSMANSHIP AND RECYCLED MATERIALS

The pendant lights combine recycled glass, Finnish craftsmanship and carefully considered details.

The patterned glass components are made from Iittala recycled glass by a Finnish glassblower, while the inner parts are 3D-printed from recycled material. Clear glass keeps the large composition visually light, while the textured surface adds character and reflects the light beautifully.

Together, the glass, wood and handcrafted details bring warmth and softness to the modern interior.

MADE FOR VILLA PESÄPUU

Villa Pesäpuu was created as a real family home, not only as an exhibition space. Quality, longevity and timeless materials were important throughout the interior, and the chandelier was designed with the same values in mind.

Its scale, materials and composition were created specifically for the living room, making the light feel like a natural part of the home from the very beginning.

“We had trouble finding a chandelier that was both the right size and visually pleasing for our living room. QUU Design’s lighting had always impressed us, and after searching for some time, we reached out to Heli to ask whether a custom chandelier could be designed according to our wishes.

The result is an absolutely stunning light for our high living room. It features three-dimensional details, beautiful patterned glass and proportions that fit the space perfectly. The chandelier looks magnificent both from below and from the upper floor, just as we had hoped.

The design, production and delivery process went incredibly smoothly, and Heli went above and beyond to make sure the chandelier arrived on time despite the tight Housing Fair schedule.
